Add CWV comparison reports for YoY and/or first to last scans

With the end of the year approaching it brings the need to present the progress made. I love the line charts but I’m finding that clients and others are getting lost in the journey through the peaks and valleys between the first and last scans. While that tells a great story, I need to lead off with a direct first and last comparison before we get into the challenges faced and improvements made during the in-between scans.

Currently I’m using the comparisons functionality to get starting and ending values for single pages and the aggregate project. After that I’m plotting those values in a google sheet and making a bar graphs to show the improvement.

I would love for a better method of comparing year over year and/or first to last scans for single pages and the project aggregate. I hope others find this feature useful and that it becomes a reporting mainstay.

You can now select custom date ranges in the "Trends" view and export as CSV.

Hey Jacob, thank you for taking the time to make a suggestion.

Would something like this mockup work for you? So maybe it could show the first week of the test results for that page to the most recent week?

Maybe it could also work together with the export feature, so that both of those values are included in e.g. a CSV.

Love the display and the the export idea!

The per-page comparison is great and with the exporting ability a user could make a full project overview in data studio. Having easy access to that data will help us communicate our successes at a high level.

Probably another feature request, but would there be interest in creating a project health section that would display the first to last aggregate values of all pages in the project? The section could also house other project wide messages and alerts.

ex.
Project: Awesome Site - high value pages
First Scan: April 16th, 2020
Agg. Total: 23 -> 76
Alerts:
* 5 pages have increased CLS scores to investigate.
* SEO scores decreased by 6 points. View Lighthouse results for more info.
Message:
Matt is awesome

Yeah that would make sense. Eventually I want to make the Compare section a lot better, and maybe also merge it with the weekly emails feature.

Also planning to make it possible to view the page alerts on the website rather than just sent as an email.

I'm excited to see what you have planned for the compare section.

Personally, I'm a fan of anything that makes sharing data and analysis quicker and easier. I've found that most of my time is spent taking the comparison data and making reports that include charts of relevant metrics and analysis of this is happening, why it's happening, and either we need to fix it or celebrate it.

It would be interesting to see a markup mode that takes a comparison as a moment in time and provides a way to write up notes of things to highlight and investigate with the ability to attach multiple metric charts. It could be a place on the site where teams interact or could be exported to doc formats.

p.s. I love the new annotation feature! Going to start adding now.

p.p.s. Thank you
